- Salt and black pepper, to taste
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 2 cloves garlic, minced (optional)
- Fresh herbs (such as rosemary or thyme), chopped (optional)
For the Broccoli and Cheese:

For the Portabella Mushrooms:
- 4 large portabella mushrooms, cleaned and stems removed
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- Salt and black pepper, to taste
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
Instructions:
1. Prepare the New York Strip Steaks:
- Take the steaks out of the refrigerator and let them come to room temperature for about 30 minutes.
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Season the steaks generously with salt and black pepper.
- In an oven-safe skillet, heat olive oil over medium-high heat.
- Add the steaks to the hot skillet and sear for 2-3 minutes on each side.
- Optionally, add minced garlic and fresh herbs to the pan.
- Transfer the skillet to the preheated oven and roast for about 5-7 minutes for medium-rare. Adjust the time based on your desired doneness.
- Let the steaks rest for a few minutes before slicing.
2. Make the Broccoli and Cheese:
- Steam or boil the broccoli until it's just tender. Drain and set aside.
- In a saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Add flour and whisk continuously for 1-2 minutes to make a roux.
- Gradually add milk while whisking to avoid lumps.
- Once the sauce thickens, add shredded cheddar cheese and stir until melted.
- Season with salt and black pepper.
- Add the cooked broccoli to the cheese sauce and stir until well-coated.
3. Prepare the Portabella Mushrooms:
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Brush the cleaned portabella mushrooms with olive oil and season with salt and black pepper.
- Place the mushrooms on a baking sheet.
- Sprinkle minced garlic over the mushrooms.
- Roast in the oven for about 15-20 minutes until the mushrooms are tender.
- Garnish with chopped fresh parsley before serving and a tortilla.
4. Serve:
- Plate the sliced New York Strip steaks alongside the broccoli and cheese and portabella mushrooms.
